Dry Salt therapy or Halotherapy has become increasingly popular among people looking for a more natural and alternative way to ease allergy and sinusitis symptoms.
Dry Salt Therapy is a non-invasive and all natural solution to help offer relief with these types of respiratory conditions. The Dry Salt Therapy process is when pharmaceutical grade salt is placed in a halogenerator that then precisely grinds the salt into specific micro-sized particles, dispersing the salt mist in the air in a closed environment such as a room.
While there has been research on Salt Therapy's effects on certain conditions, Intown Salt Room conducted its own observation with a volunteer participant. Elin, our participant with chronic allergies and sinusitis, received two-30 minute sessions per week of Dry Salt Therapy, over a four week period as part of this observation to evaluate before-and-after differences while adding Dry Salt Therapy to her existing wellness routine.
Prior to participating, Elin generally woke up with phlegm in the morning caused by allergies and sinusitis— “Often I’m congested and sniffly through the day. I treat with Flonase and allergy medicine.” Following the consistency of 30 minute Dry Salt Therapy sessions over a four week period, Elin noticed she was relying less on Flonase— stating favorable changes included “marked reduction in phlegm in the mornings and less phlegm lasting throughout the day.”
While Dry Salt Therapy is not intended to treat, cure or prevent any respiratory condition or disease, it is a natural solution that may help reduce inflammation in the entire respiratory tract, dissipate mucus from the airways, and loosen allergens and other irritating factors people are exposed to daily.
